Anna Kendrick starred opposite Ben Affleck in the first The Accountant movie, but she didn’t return for the sequel. So, what happened?
The Oscar-nominated actress played accountant Dana Cummings in the 2016 movie and her character had a send-off at the end when Ben‘s character Christian leaves her a Pollock painting.
Dana was connected to the case that Christian worked on and it wouldn’t make sense for her to be involved in one of his next cases, so it was always unlikely that she would return. Plus, the second movie has a new focus with Jon Bernthal back as Christian’s brother.
“The second film was always for Bill [Dubuque] and I to start to unite the two brothers. Very slowly. They had to start to start to fix all their can I say shit, all their shit, their issues. So, that was always the intention for the second movie,” director Gavin O’Connor told The Direct.
But, if a third movie is made, Anna is already committed to returning.

Gavin told The New York Times, “One thing we’ve talked about is the idea of bringing Anna Kendrick [who plays Christian’s love interest in the first movie] back. Maybe Christian can finally get the love that he deserves… she and I have been texting. She said she’s a hundred percent in if we want.”
