Addison Rae got fans excited with the announcement of her self-titled debut album, but also caused a lot of confusion with its description.
“The first & last album by Addison Rae, Addison, will be released on June 6th, 2025 via Columbia,” the official description reads on her website.
While some fans got concerned that it meant she was already going to be bowing out of the music industry, others realized that she’s been dropping hints in recent interviews about what that actually means.

In a recent interview with Elle about the project, Addison revealed that she wants to drop the “Rae” in her name.
“I feel like I’ve surpassed Addison Rae. It’s just Addison now,” she said.
As a result, listeners believe her debut album will be the first and last released as Addison Rae, and she’ll go forward by rebranding as simply Addison moving forward.
“What’s funny to me is that people assume that these passions are new,” she also said of her music career, and people questioning her authenticity as an artist.
“First of all, no one ever even knew who I was before I was a freshman in college, so it’s like, ‘How would you even know what my interests were before?’”
