Dick Van Dyke and his wife Arlene Silver have no hang-ups about their 46-year age gap.
The 99-year-old Mary Poppins star and the 53-year-old makeup artist explained why they think their relationship works in a recent interview.
“We get along so well. Everybody said it wouldn’t work,” Dick said to People.
He also opened up about how he felt when he first met Arlene.

“I never said hello to a strange girl in my life. I was too scared. But I was at a show backstage and she walked by, and for some reason, I just jumped up and said, ‘Hi, I’m Dick.’ There’s something about her and got me, and I was right,” he said.
Meanwhile, Arlene also weighed in about how the two thrive in their relationship.
“We just care about each other so much. It’s like eerie how well it works. People the same age don’t last. He’s made me feel like I can do anything. [We’re] very supportive of each other,” she said.
