Demi Lovato steps out in a white power suit while attending The Center For Youth Mental Health at New York-Presbyterian’s Gala with Vogue on Monday evening (June 3) in New York City.
The 31-year-old entertainer took the stage at the event to talk about mental health and she opened up about the positive impacts five different in-patient treatment centers have had on her life.

“I have been to in-patient treatment five times, and it has something that every single time I walked back into a treatment center, I felt defeated,” she said, via People. “And I know that experience firsthand, but I think the glimmer of hope was when I started putting in the work and I started to, whether it was work, a program, or talk to my treatment team and build relationships there.”
“I think the glimmer of hope started to change when I started to find joy and the little things in life. And that was something that was so foreign to me before because I was so used to, so used to not seeing hope,” Demi went on.
“It felt like I had hit rock bottom and I just knew what I needed to do, which was to live a life in recovery. And that was something that I pushed off for so long,” she added about her fifth in-patient mental health treatment.
Demi has been very open about her struggles throughout the years, from addiction and nearly dying from an overdose in 2018, to being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
After the event, Demi took to Instagram to share some photos and her thanks for being able to attend.
“So honored to support The Center for Youth Mental Health last night 🖤 The center plays a very necessary role in addressing the epidemic of anxiety and depression among young people and providing resources,” Demi wrote. “Thank you to @voguemagazine and @nyphospital for putting on such an important event and shining a light on this cause, to Anna Wintour for allowing me to be a part of the night, and to Dr. Charlie Shaffer for leading us through such an important conversation about mental health, the importance of getting a diagnosis, and the road to recovery. #MentalHealthMatters”
A month ago, Demi returned to the Met Gala after previously saying she had no interest in attending again after a “terrible experience” in 2016.
FYI: Demi is wearing a GCDS look.
