Blake Lively‘s speech at the 2025 Time100 Gala is making headlines.

The event, which was held on Thursday (April 24) in New York City, recognized the 37-year-old actress as one of this year’s Time100 “Titans.”

Her speech seemingly gave reference to her ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni before recognizing her mom and the crime committed against her in the past.

“I have so much to say about the last two years of my life, but tonight is not the forum,” Blake said, seemingly referencing the It Ends With Us drama. “What I will speak to, separately, is the feeling of being a woman who has a voice today.”

She then turned her focus to her mom, Willie Elain McAlpin, and revealed something the world did not know. Her mother was the victim of “the worst crime someone can commit against a woman.”

“My mom never got justice from her work acquaintance who attempted to take her life when she was the mother of three young kids years before I was born,” she heartbreakingly shared.

Blake explained how her mom heard another woman share her story of survival on the radio.

“The woman painfully and graphically shared how she escaped and because of hearing that woman speak about her experience instead of shutting down in fear and unfair shame, my mom is alive today. She was saved by a woman whose name she’ll never know,” Blake continued.

Blake also gave a shout out to her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for being “kind and good when no one is watching.”
