Ben Shelton is making moves—on and off the court!
The 22-year-old tennis star reached the biggest clay-court final for an American man in over two decades, advancing to the championship match at the BMW Open (ATP 500) tournament in Munich, Germany, on Saturday (April 19).
And it looks like he had a little extra support from the stands—his girlfriend, professional soccer player Trinity Rodman, was spotted in his player box alongside Ben’s father and coach, Bryan Shelton. The sweet show of support came as Ben pulled off a gritty comeback win over Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo, 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4.
Ben is now the first American man to reach a clay-court final since Andre Agassi won the Rome Masters in 2002—the same year Ben was born.
“It’s a big win for me,” Ben said after the match. “To get a win on clay against a guy like that gives me a lot of confidence… I’m excited.”
Ben will go for his third ATP title—and second at the ATP 500 level—when he faces off against top seed Alexander Zverev in Sunday’s final.
Could Trinity’s presence be his lucky charm? We’ll find out soon enough!
