A Minecraft Movie is huge!
The movie has brought in $301 million globally in its opening weekend, and is already the second-highest grossing film of 2025, just behind Disney and Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World ($410 million after eight weeks), per Variety.
The movie is projected to surpass those ticket sales and take the top spot within days.

It’s now the the second-biggest international debut for a video game adaptation after Super Mario Bros. Movie, which brought in $173 million overseas and $377 million globally over Easter weekend before ending its theatrical run with a $1.3 billion haul.
Broken down, Minecraft took in $144 million internationally from 40,300 screens across 68 territories, as well as $157 million at the domestic box office.
The $150 million budgeted movie stars Jack Black and Jason Momoa, and was projected to earn $65 million internationally and $70 million to $80 million domestically.
The story follows four misfits who are sucked through a portal into a cubic world, based on the hugely popular video game.
