Sinners is a hit!
The Ryan Coogler movie, starring Michael B. Jordan, just beat out A Minecraft Movie and came in at No. 1 in its opening weekend box office, pulling in $45.6 million, via THR.
The number comes ahead of an expected $40 million haul.

The movie has scored near-perfect reviews, including a 98% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 97% Audience Score.
It also brought in $15.4 million from international markets for a global total of $61 million so far.
Set in 1932, Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as identical twin entrepreneurs known as Smoke and Stack. Having survived the World War I trenches and Chicago gangland, the brothers return after seven years to their segregated Mississippi Delta hometown, Clarksdale. They are flush with cash and have a truckload of liquor and a plan to open a juke joint. However, they encounter unexpected horrors.
