The mayor of the Tswaing Local Municipality in the Ngaka Modiri District, North West province, was forced to go on special leave after an inappropriate video featuring her was leaked on the party’s WhatsApp group.
Norah Mahlangu is the ANC mayor in Tswaing, and she faced significant embarrassment when her nude videos were sent to various members of her party in the province.
Mayor Norah Mahlangu’s Explicit Videos Leaked
In the video, Norah Mahlangu is seen sitting on a bed in her bedroom, removing her black bra and exposing her breasts. Later, she appears nude in the video, engaging in explicit activity.
Media outlet Sunday World has confirmed that it was indeed Mahlangu whose video was leaked.
The leaked video has had a devastating effect on Mahlangu, who is reported to be in deep depression. She is constantly being trolled, with many labelling her a “porn star wannabe.”
The leak could not have come at a worse time, following a tragic accident in which two municipal workers lost their lives after falling into a sewer manhole while trying to unblock the drainage system outside Sannieshof. Mahlangu’s last public appearance was at the funeral of the two deceased municipal workers.
It is unclear how the video was leaked and ended up in the wrong hands. There are speculations that Mahlangu may have sent the video to her partner when they were in a relationship.
However, rumours suggest that her partner tried to extort money from her, and when Mahlangu refused to be blackmailed, he leaked the video to her opponents.
Meanwhile, in another twist to the episode, the ANCWL Provincial Task Team (PTT) in North West has come out firmly in support of Norah Mahlangu after the ANC in the province asked her to go on leave pending an investigation.
The ANC provincial secretary, Louis Diremelo, in a letter written to Norah Mahlangu on February 12, 2025, stated that her actions run contrary to the character, values, and integrity of the ANC.
The letter, obtained by Taung Daily News, stated:
“You are further reminded that your immoral and indecent social media video has the potential to bring the organization into disrepute. Actually, the video has brought the organization into disrepute after being circulated and seen by the members of the public.”
The letter goes on to ask Mahlangu to go on special leave until an investigation into the alleged leak of the inappropriate video is completed. She was also forbidden from visiting municipal premises unless requested by the chief whip of the organization.
