Thomas Doherty Reveals What It Was Like Joining ‘Tell Me Lies’ as New Love Interest Knowing Grace Van Patten & Jackson White Are Dating In Real Life | Tell Me Lies, Thomas Doherty | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip

Thomas Doherty is opening up about joining the second season of Tell Me Lies!

The 29-year-old former Gossip Girl star joined the cast of the show as a new love interest for Grace Van Patten’s Lucy, playing a guy named Leo.

According to Deadline, Leo is “a junior at Baird who returns to campus after studying abroad for a year and finds himself immediately drawn to Lucy (Van Patten). He seems as kind as he is charming, but Lucy isn’t sure whether she can fully trust him. Leo will eventually become entangled in the web created by Lucy and Stephen’s (Jackson White) toxic relationship.”

In a new interview, Thomas admitted he had some reservations, knowing that Grace and Jackson are dating in real life.

“Obviously Jackson and Grace are dating in real life, so I was like, ‘Oh,’ but no, [he] was absolutely professional and as was I, and yeah, it was so chill,” he told People. “People always say, they’re always like, ‘It’s your job, you’re an actor.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I know, but still, f—ing hell.’”

However, Thomas says he had “such an amazing experience” on the show and praised the cast and crew as “amazing” as well.

“Just the whole environment — best craic I’ve ever had in my life,” he dished. “And working in Atlanta was really, really special. So yeah, it was just an amazing experience.”

Thomas also revealed that Grace was a big part of him wanting to do the show, having the chance to work with her.

“For some reason, I thought I was going to go meet Lucy,” he said of their first meeting, prior to their chemistry read.

But, he noted she “couldn’t be more different” to Lucy. “That’s how good she is at acting.”

“If I had to do the rest of my career working with Grace, I’d be a happy man. She’s just an incredible human being, incredible actor, so funny, so smart. And yeah, just a wonderful, wonderful human,” he gushed.

The first two episodes of Tell Me Lies season two are currently available on Hulu, with new episodes debuting on Wednesdays at midnight ET. Watch the trailer here!
